The New York State Education Department is one of the largest state agencies and conducts business with each of the 705 NYS school districts and 33 Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).

The Challenge:

To replace outdated technology with an integrated web-based system that provides data collection, processing and projection of all State Aid related data.

The Solution:

Consilium was contracted by New York State Education Department (NYSED) to work with BearingPoint to provide requirements definition, database management, conversion and development resources for the development of the State Aid Management System (SAMS).  The first phase of the application is currently in the development/testing stage. SAMS will ultimately provide NYSED and school districts with a unified system to manage the reporting, collection, processing, maintenance, publication and projection of all State Aid related data. The new data collection system will be available in early August 2005 for 2005-06 State Aid data collection.
